On 20th February, the community of vidyopasini at Khalwa, together with neighboring parishes conducted the women’s day. We began our programme with the lamp lighting ceremony.

Sr Mercy the Animator of the Local parish community represented the meeting and lamp lighting ceremony along with other members. There were more than 50, women participants from unlike 8 parishes, spaced out from religious women.  Fr Lijo from the Diocese of Kanduwa was the resource person. He began his talk by reading from the Bible –(1kigs 3-,16-28). He encouraged the women, by sharing that, women should be mothers, wives, and a sister to families and societies. Indeed his class was powerful and Motivational, in which everyone felt, the importance of women and their uniqueness in societies. ‘’No one can make us feel inferior without our consent’’. We should fight to get justice till the last. Behind the Success of each man, there is the hard work of women. After the class, everyone took the promise by carrying the lighted candle, to spread the light of love to the families and the societies by living a life of Adjustment, and examples. Prayer was led by Sr Pushpa SSP, president of women commission in denary level Kanduwa. After there was a solemn Eucharistic celebration where sisters of the Daughters of the church conducted the liturgy and choir. There was also a stage for women to share their difficulties and views. Thereafter Agape meal was arranged by a local parish priest collaborated by sisters of the community. At 4.30 everyone departed as an empowered women to render service to their own parishes and workplaces.
