44th North East Regional CRI Assembly

Tue, 09 Sep 25 Daughters of the Church Knowing the Church

From 30 August to 4 September 2025, the Church in North East India hosted two significant events that placed the theme of hope and the call to be pilgrims of faith at the heart of reflection and dialogue.

44th North East Regional CRI Assembly

Held from 30 August to 1 September 2025 at the North East Diocesan Social Forum (NEDSF), Kharghuli, the 44th North East Regional Conference of Religious India (CRI) Assembly gathered major superiors, provincials, and representatives of religious congregations from across the region.
The sessions included panel discussions, group sharing, and thematic presentations, all focused on deepening the call of consecrated life as a journey of hope and witness in today’s world.

North East India Regional Pastoral Conference 2025

Immediately following, from 1 to 4 September 2025, the North East Diocesan Social Service Society in Kharghuli, Guwahati, hosted the Regional Pastoral Conference under the common theme “Pilgrims of Hope.”
The gathering brought together a wide representation of the local Church, including three Archbishops, fifteen diocesan Bishops, major superiors, provincials, delegates, and representatives from 23 pastoral commissions. The rich program featured report presentations, panel discussions, and group dialogues, offering a broad vision of pastoral priorities for the years ahead.

Keynote Address: Pilgrims of Hope Towards 2033

A highlight of the twin gatherings was the keynote address on the Jubilee Year 2025 – “Pilgrims of Hope: Looking Towards 2033.”
The reflection invited participants to envision the shape of the Church in North East India by the year 2033, highlighting various dimensions of Christian hope:

  • Nurturing leadership inspired by hope among the people of God.

  • Bureaucracy as sentinels of hope.

  • Bringing hope to the poor and the sick.

  • Instilling hope amidst youth challenges such as unemployment, addiction, and the generation gap.

  • Ways of kindling hope among prison inmates.

  • Promoting Christian hope in families, parishes, and religious institutions within the North East context.

A Church on the Move

Both assemblies underscored that the Church in North East India stands at a critical crossroads, called to embody hope in action. From families and youth to the marginalized and the imprisoned, the pastoral vision articulated during these days seeks to root Christian witness in a hope that is concrete, inclusive, and future-oriented—always looking toward 2033 as a milestone of renewal and communion.
