Teachers are a very integral part of our lives

There is a very interesting reason behind it as to why this day is marked on September 5. India’s first Vice-President and second President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888. Before entering into politics, he served as a professor in various colleges for a long time. Besides being a teacher, he was a writer. Dr. Radhakrishnan wrote The Philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore.

One Day when his students requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday, he asked them to mark September 5 as Teachers’ Day. This happened in 1962 after he took over as the President of India. He succeeded Rajendra Prasad who served as the first President. So, Teachers’ Day was first observed in 1962 and since then it has always been observed on the birth anniversary of Radhakrishnan.

He was conferred with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, in 1954. Radhakrishnan was also honoured with honorary membership of the British Royal Order of Merit in 1963. He was also nominated for the Nobel Prize 27 times.

Teachers are a very integral part of our lives and they need to be rewarded and honoured for their efforts and hard work.

Being a teacher is not an easy task, teaching the students entire day without sitting on the chair and understanding their strengths and weaknesses . Checking the assignments and registers and even taking them back home to complete all of them on right time, this is what a teacher contributes in a student’s life.

The job of a teacher becomes very challenging and responsible. If a teacher's eye can't catch a single mistake, you'll all make the same mistake again.

Have you ever realized what your teacher gets in return doing so much of hard work? The answer is nothing; they become happy when they see you achieving success in life. That’s the moment for them when they feel that all their hard work that they had put in their students has been achieved. It’s a saying that “when we grow a plant and nurture it and when it grows taller it makes us happy”, in the same way teachers feel proud when they see you making successful careers.

It’s important that we take a moment to admire and appreciate our teachers for whatever they have been doing for us. They are guiding souls who never expect anything in return but pray for us so that we can be good human beings and can achieve successful careers.

Teachers through their ideas and knowledge build the life of not only a student but an entire generation. If we get a great teacher, you as students never forget them in your entire life because you realize the fact that whatever you are today is because of the hard work and motivation that they did when you were in your growing up age.   Always respect your teachers as they are your gurus without whom you cannot achieve anything in your life and always remember that teachers are your second parents who are the guiding light in your and everyone's life.
