25th death anniversary of Sr. Silvana Termignone (1993-2018)
The Sisters from India would like to remember and share their experience of living with Sr. Silvana who brought the Charism of Daughters of the Church to India.
For me Sr. Silvana was a model, a woman, a Sister who walked her talk. Her life spoke louder than her words. She adapted the Indian culture and lived like an Indian and took the best elements of the Indian culture and Hindu festivals and integrated them into our Liturgy. Besides living a poor and simple life she also imparted the same to us. She loved the poor so much that she was very kind and available at all times and she often used to tell me “Caroline, we need to be women for others.” For me she was a special gift from the Lord, a true spiritual mother from whom I have gained a lot for my life. Among many other things, one I would like to mention here is my experience of approaching her after having committed a mistake as an aspirant. When I confessed my mistake, she hugged me and said “you are my little saint”. I recognized that to error is human and is normal and to forgive is divine. Her role in my growth as a person, a woman and a daughter of the Church is indispensable.
