Concluding Message of the XII General Chapter of the Daughters of the Church
"One generation shall praise Your works to another,
and shall declare Your mighty acts” (Ps. 145:4).
Dear Sisters, , Fathers, Sons of the Church and Friends,
With great joy and contentment we wish to thank the Lord for the event of this XII General Chapter which re-elected Sr. Thresa Purayidathil as the Superior General, and elected the sisters of the General Council, Maria Giampiccolo , Flomy Malakudiyil, Grazia De Palma, Luz Esmeralda Avendano. After 22 days of work (June 16-July 8, 2019) we handover to the Institute the Six-year Project "In the heart of the Church, in the footsteps of Maria Oliva, with the richness of our diversity", the fruit of the contribution of each Sister through the Preparatory Document.
What we have seen, heard, contemplated and touched, we tell you so that you too may be in communion with us (cf 1 Jn 1: 3). Yes, we witness what we have experienced: truly, when we gather in his Name, to seek his will, He is in our midst. Even in the diversity of ages, paths, cultures, languages, we are one, we are one Family in the heart of the Church.
The Lord who makes all things new, made us taste the ever-present freshness of the Charism of our Foundress, Mother Maria Oliva, that we all wish to witness all over the world. How? The project that the Holy Spirit and we have drawn, through the wise and expert guidance of our facilitator, Gloria Conti, OV, Diocese of Albano, will be the highway to travel together in this six-year period to tell everyone that God exists and He is love.
The Word of God, the daily Liturgy, the Magisterium of the Church, our fraternity, your concrete closeness with prayer, the messages, the experiences of all of you, were once again the sources that nourished and sustained our reflections and our choices to understand how to be daughters, sisters and mothers in today's history. We are still called to dream and to make our dreams grow and realize even through those who come after us; we are called to be new women, bearers of the newness of the Gospel, weavers of communion in a divided world, sowers of hope in the peripheries of humanity.
All this we wish to live as Daughters of the Church within our local Churches, with our specificity integrated in the individual diocese, in the company of all the sons and daughters of God with whom we are called to inhabit this history and this delicate and complex time , but still wonderful time because it is marked by the finger of God, whose Word is salvation.
We are happy to run together with all of you, driven by the Wind of the Spirit, to offer our Church and the world our momentum, with the patience to wait for one another.
