María discípula misionera
Mary, Missionary Disciple
On 3 April 2019, Pope Francis established the Territorial Prelature of St. James the Apostle in Huancané, suffragan to the Archdiocese of Arequipa, in the Department of Puno, Peru. The Bishop of the Prelature, Monsignor Giovanni Cefai, requested that we, Daughters of the Church, begin a mission focusing on catechists, children, youth, adults, and liturgical animation.
We arrived at the Prelature fully aware that our primary mission is to make the Lord’s Love for His children manifest, through the witness of a life grounded in prayer, fraternity, and apostolic service. Thus, on 1 March 2024, the community dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Missionary Disciple, was established.
We find ourselves in a place where there is a great pastoral need, among the people who thirst to know the true God and His Messenger, Jesus Christ. With joy and a spirit of service, we wholeheartedly embrace this mission, eager to journey alongside the people we meet, supporting them in their walk of faith and helping them to discover the beauty of God’s love.
Here we are, Lord, to do Your will!
