Superior General

Sr. Thresiamma Purayidathil Thomas

Sr. Thresamma of the Suffering and Redeeming Lord wasborn on 10 May 1953 at Mallikassery (Kerala-India). She entered the Postulancy on 7 November 1971 at Thidanadu, completed the Novitiate in Rome (Italy) and made her First Profession on 7 June 1975 in Domus Aurea, Rome. HerPerpetual Profession was on 26 June1981.

Back in India, she completed her university studies obtaining Baccalaureate in Education (B. Ed.) from the R. V. Teachers’ College, Bangalore (Karnataka).

After attending the Course for Formators’ at N.V.S.C. Pune, Sr. Theresa was the Mistress of the novices until 1995, and from 1995 to 2007, served the Institute as General Councilor and General Secretary in Rome. 

During her stay in Rome, she also completed her Baccalaureate and Licentiate in Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas –Angelicum. In 2008, Sr. Theresa obtained her Doctoral degree in Theology of Consecrated Life from the Institute of the Theology of Consecrated Life (ITVC) “Claretianum”, incorporated to the Pontifical Lateran University, Rome. In the same year she returned to Bangalore, India and she taught at the Sanyasa Institute of Consecrated Life of the Claretians at Carmelaram in Bangalore, at Vinayasadhana Institute of Formative Spirituality and Counseling (DVK), and at Vidyadeep College, Bangalore.

On 24 June 2013, while participating in the XI General Chapter of the Institute she was elected as the Superior General (IV Superior General after the Venerable Foundress, Maria Oliva Bonaldo of the Mystical Body) for a period of six years from 2013 to 2019.

At the XII General Chapter, on 28 June 2019, solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, she has been re-elected for a second six-year term of service as Superior General.

Councillors

Sr. Maria Giampiccolo

Sr. Maria of the Prisoner of Love was born in Samone (Trento - Italy) on 19 April 1949.

She enters the postulancy on August 2, 1964 and after having lived the novitiate in Rome, she pronounced the First Vows on February 2, 1968 in the Generalate Sancta Maria. She made her Perpetual Profession on June 21, 1974 in the house of spirituality Domus Aurea in Rome.

She obtained the Magisterium in Religious Sciences in Rome in 1980 at the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Baccalaureate in Theology ((1985), the Licentiate (1986) and the Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology (1990) at the Pontifical Lateran University.

From 1974 to 1980 she served in the pastoral care of isolated pilgrims in the Community of Lourdes.

Returning to Rome in 1980, continuing her studies, she collaborated in various Roman communities and in particular in the editing of the journal Ecclesia Mater.

From 1995 she taught Ecclesiology and Ecumenism at the Institute of Religious Sciences of the Lateran and of the Gregorian, at the Theological Institute of Anagnie, the Pontifical Urban University. In 2009 she started a formation course for parish ecumenical animators in Rome and since 2013 she is a member of the Diocesan Ecumenical Commission.

On June 29, 2019, she was elected as the first Councilor and Vicar General: she is responsible for the Missionary Office, referent for the Association of the Sons of the Church and for the Communities dependent on the General Government.

Sr. Flomy Malakudiyil

Sr. Flomy of Divine Love was born on May 21, 1971 at Kolakkad (Kerala-India).

She entered the postulancy on May 31, 1989 in the Community of Valillapuzha Fons lucis (Kerala)and in the novitiate on September 8, 1990 in Bangalore Aurora valde rutilans (Karnataka), here she pronounced the First Vows on September 7, 1992. She made her Perpetual Profession at Valillapuzha on September 13, 1998.

In 1996 she graduated in Economics and Commerce from the University of Bangalore.

In 1999 she obtained the Baccalaureate in Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquino Angelicum in Rome and in 2005 the Magisterium in Formation at the Higher Institute for Formators.

From 2003 to 2009 she Served as Councillor and Bursar of the Delegation in India; continued her service as the Bursar of the Delegation up to 2012.

In 2010 she obtained the B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) from IGNOU and in 2011 the M.Sc in Psychology from Madras University and M. Phil in Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore.

From 2011 to 2013 she served in the department of Psychology and Counselling as Assistant Professor of Psychology and Student Councillor at St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science, Bangalore.

She also rendered her service in the Institute as the Delegate Superior from 2013 to 2019.

She participated in the Plenary Council in Rome in 2016. In August 2017, she carried out a survey in Viet Nam to evaluate the possibility of a foundation in that country.

Elected as second Councillor on June 29, 2019, she is in charge of the Youth Ministry of the Institute and referent for the Communities of India.

Sr. Grazia De Palma

Sr. Grazia of Jesus Love was born in Foggia (Italy) on 2 July 1965.

She entered the postulancy October 26, 1991 in the Community of Mestre (VE) Mater Christi and in the novitiate in Rome Mater Verbi on September 8, 1992; makes the first vows on September 8, 1994 in Rome Domus Aurea and made the Perpetual Profession in the Cathedral of Foggia on June 17, 2000.

Graduated in Pedagogy at the University of Bari (1989), she obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology (1995) and the "Magisterium in Formation" at the Higher Institute for Formators (2005) at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome.

She was involved in vocational youth ministry and was councillor and general secretary in the Generalate in Rome from 2007 to 2013. Since 2015, in the community of Siena she has dedicated herself to university ministry.

On June 29, 2019, she was elected as the third Councilor. She is responsible for ongoing formation and contact person for the Communities of Italy.

Sr. Luz Esmeralda Avendaño Becerra

Sr. Luz Esmeralda of the Immaculate was born in Paipa (Boyacá - Colombia) on September 4, 1967.

Entered in postulancy on March 25, 1988 in the Community of Tunja Regina Virginum, in the novitiate at Regina Immacolata in Bogotá on August 15, 1989; pronounced the First Vows on August 15th 1991 in Regina Virginum and made her Perpetual Profession on June 14th 1997 in Tunja Cathedral.

She completed her basic studies in Bogotá in 2001. In 2004 she was in Rome and from 2005 to 2012 she resided in the Community of Madrid Mater Ecclesiae, where she obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology (2009) at the San Damaso Faculty of Theology. She holds a Master's degree from the University of Comillas in "Vocational Discernment and Spiritual Accompaniment" (2010) and at the Ecclesiastical University of San Damaso she graduated in Liturgy (2011), while simultaneously taking care of Youth Ministry.

Returning to Colombia, from 2013 to 2019 she served as Councilor, Vicar and Secretary of Delegation; she was also responsible for the coordination of Catechesis at the diocesan level in Tunja.

Elected on June 29, 2019 as the Fourth Councilor, she is responsible for the initial formation and referent for the Latin American communities.
