The parish Youth Conference is an exciting moment, enriched with the experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and young people. On 31st March, 2018 Valavayal youth meeting was held at Shanthidhara Retreat Centre. Around 80 members participated. The programme commenced at 9.30 am with the Eucharistic adoration then continued with general and concurrent sessions addressing a wide variety of topics including forgiveness, Catholic spirituality and prayer, global issues, sexuality, and leadership. The theme of this day was “A day with the Pastor.” The chief guest was KCYM Diocesan director Fr. Lal Painumkal who helped the youth to understand their potentialities and to be receptive, ready to help and generous. Although the social context is not conducive to the development of a real spiritual dimension, however, they were stirred to dedicate themselves to any demanding causes that may arise. Fun, laughter, competitive spirit and good–will mischief was at its height during the fun and games part of the youth meetings. The moments of sacrament of reconciliation and holy Eucharist were the peak moments when God knocked at the door of their hearts, who longs to establish friendship, to offer mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and to be one in the Eucharist. The youth meeting was a wonderful time to reflect upon their lives and identify the roles they have in the life that God has planned.
The young people are reassured that the Lord, the Church, the world are waiting for young people’s answer to the unique call that each one receives in this life! Yes, they are rekindled with the assurance of the church their mother to be close to them all the time and encourage them to be courageous and to accept the challenge of facing life even when difficulties arise. Do you accept the challenge?
